First vet visits set the tone for the next decade of care. A little prep makes a big difference — for your pet and for us. Here's what we recommend bringing and doing before you walk in.

What to bring

  • Any medical records or vaccine history from a previous vet, breeder, or shelter.

  • A list of foods, treats, and supplements your pet eats.

  • A fresh stool sample if possible — we screen for parasites at first visits.

  • High-value treats: cheese, deli turkey, freeze-dried liver. They help us build trust quickly.

  • A secure carrier for cats and small dogs, or a leash (no retractables, please).

Before you arrive

  • Skip a meal if your pet gets carsick — but bring breakfast with you.

  • Take a short walk first if your dog has nervous energy.

  • Spray a calming pheromone in the carrier 15 minutes before leaving.

Most importantly: don't worry. We've seen every kind of pet on every kind of day. We'll take it from there.
